Give

Why do we give?

The earth is the LORD’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein… (Psalm 24:1)
As Christ Followers, we believe that we are stewards of God’s resources because He is the owner of all that we have. His Word tells us that giving is an act of worship and that giving should be done with a spirit of thanksgiving. It sounds so tongue and cheek to say “It is better to give than to receive,” but it is true. 2 Corinthians 9:7 says “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

How do we give?

At Community Bible Church we have several ways that you can give to God’s work.

You can give by cash or check on Sundays as the offering baskets are passed, usually at the end of the service.

Online

You can also give online by clicking on the link above. Please know that the
online giving does not make a distinction regarding a debit card or a credit card.
We do strongly suggest that no one use a credit card unless it is paid off every
month. The Bible speaks in Proverbs 22:7 about “…the borrower [being] servant
to the lender.” We do not wish our congregation to go into debt by tithing on a
credit card.

Why is giving so important?

We recognize that Jesus talked more about giving than the subjects of heaven, hell, prayer, faith or grace. He said, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21). In Luke 6:38 He says, “Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” Did you know Jesus even calls us to tithe faithfully in Luke 11:42?

How do I excel in giving?

You can excel in giving by cheerfully and obediently giving your tithe. Additionally, you can give sacrificially in offerings above that. The apostle Paul spoke to churches about giving and he prompted the believers to be generous. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 says, “The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
